Following the very successful previous conference, in 2023 in Stockholm, Spain will host the 2nd International Conference on Gastronomy that will take place under the name «Reframing Gastronomy“.
The event, organised by the Royal Academy of Gastronomy of Spain in collaboration with the CEU University Institute “Food and Society”, will take place on 21-23 November 2024, in the facilities of the CEU San Pablo University, Madrid.

The time has come again to gather researchers and policymakers from different fields of science, academic disciplines, research networks, policy areas and sectors of business, to discuss ongoing research and emerging policy issues in the comprehensive area of gastronomy.

The central focus of the 2nd Conference is defined in view of the fact that the concept of gastronomy as an eminently recreational activity has become somewhat obsolete and that the other dimensions of the value chain of gastronomic activities, which encompasses production, distribution, preparation, consumption and waste management, must be taken into account, in a multidisciplinary and international approach. Therefore, the aim of this 2nd International  Conference   is to address from a scientific, academic and professional point of view this new social, economic, psychological, medical and cultural scenario of this new interpretation of gastronomy where the criteria of sustainable production and healthy eating naturally complement the traditional concept of enjoyment associated with gastronomy, as encouraged in the Manifesto for a 21st century gastronomy of A.I.G.

For this reason, we will bring together researchers, academics and professionals from different fields of science, academic disciplines, research networks, policy areas and business sectors to discuss this new framework for defining gastronomy as an integral activity.

We look forward to seeing you in Madrid on 21-23 November 2024, all those interested in Gastronomy, from a holistic point of view. It’s worth it, welcome with the open arms that Madrid always receives!
